Steampunk Tilda - FFFC #92

Hello.

It's time for a new challenge at Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge Blog.  This fortnight challenge is hosted by the lovely Laila and the theme that she has chosen is...Steampunk.  For more details on the challenge and how to join in the fun, hop over to Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge. Have a look at the fabulous cards that my DT teammates have created to inspire you to create a Steampunk card/project and join us.

I'm very much out of my comfort zone with this theme.  In fact, I was the one who needed to look at my DT teammates cards first for inspirations...LOL. Not sure if I've captured the essence of Steampunk, but here's what I came up with...

I was going to purchase a digi image for this challenge as I didn't think I have any steampunk image, but on second thought, I decided this one might do the trick.

This image is of Tilda With Little Hat from Magnolia's latest stamp collection Special Moments Collection 2013.
Sorry, she looks like she's wearing boxing gloves...LOL.  Should have gone with another colour there...oh well.

This and other Magnolia images are available from Diana's on-line store Magnolia-licious.  Diana  carries a large selection of both the full size and mini stamps.  And if you don't see the particular one you are looking for, contact Diana and ask her if she can bring it in for you.  Check out the selection of cutting dies also.
Prices are discounted.  Along with excellent customer service, you get to earn 2% in-store credit of every order, to be applied to future purchases.  Sweet!

Ice Cream Parlour - Summer Fun Blog Hop

Hello.

Woo-hoo..it's a Blog Hop event at the Magnolia-licious and Wee Stamps Challenge Blog.  The theme is...Summer Fun!  Complete details of the blog hop can be found at the Challenge Blog.

If you're already doing the Blog Hop and have arrived here from Katie's blog then you are on the right track. If not, then you may want to start at the beginning. Here is the blog hop order:
Norma (you are here)
Suzanne
Cabio
Sheri
Eulanda

Just a mention here that if you leave comments along the way (in Blog-Hop participants' blogs including the Challenge Blog itself) they will be entered into a draw for a Surprise Package Prize from Magnolia-licious.

Okay, moving on...here is my Summer Fun project...

I spent more time on this project than I had planned to--I got a bit too ambitious...LOL.  But it was fun just the same.
This was like constructing a mini doll house.  I didn't have plans/templates for any of the ice-cream-parlour items.  I googled 'ice cream parlour' on the internet and looked at the images and then made things up as I go along.  A lot of trials and errors and discarded items...LOL.  Except for the glass cover of the ice cream cooler--I used acetate sheet--everything is made of paper:  chipboard, cardstocks, designer papers, lollipop sticks.

The colouring of the images was done with my alcohol ink markers--Letraset Promarkers and Pantone Trias.

Here's a list of the Magnolia images I've used:

- Tilda with Ice Cream from the Lazy Summer Days Collection 2009
- Tilda with Love Potion (altered) from the With Love Collection 2013
- Tilda with Prince Froggy (altered) from the Once Upon A Time Collection 2013

Maggie, you can't come in here!  Shoo, shoo...

- Tilda with Big Cup of Ice Cream from the With Love Collection 2013
- Mini Magnolia with Butterfly from the Butterfly Dreams Collection 2011 (Magnolia is the name of the little dog--I left out the butterfly)

- Strawberry Ice Cream from the Lazy Summer Days Collection 2009
The 'Ice Cream Parlour' sign was computer generated.

Diana's on-line store Magnolia-licious, carries a large selection of both the full size and mini stamps.  And if you don't see the particular one you are looking for, contact Diana and ask her if she can bring it in for you.
Prices are discounted.  Along with excellent customer service, you get to earn 2% in-store credit of every order, to be applied to future purchases.  How cool is that!

Christmas in June - GDT Card

Hello.

Woo-hoo...I've been given the opportunity to be a Guest Designer at the It's a Magnolia Challenge Blog for the midway reminder of their IAMC Christmas Challenge #68.  The theme is Clean and Simple.

A rare card for me to do, CAS, but here's the card I finally came up with.

Although this was suppose to be simple, I found it very hard to keep it that way.  I really had to restrained myself from putting any embellishment...LOL--not even one teensy weensy pearl. (Oh please pretty please, may I?)  Sigh...I guess CAS really isn't my style.  Most likely though I'll end up embellishing before mailing this out to someone..hee hee.

I'm featuring a couple of Magnolia images and I have also used a Magnolia sentiment stamp:

- Jingle Tilda from the Sweet Christmas Dreams Collection 2011
- Old Swedish Church from the A Christmas Story Collection 2012
- Merry Christmas Text from the Merry Little Christmas Collection 2010

Check out Diana's on-line store, Magnolia-licious--an excellent source for your Magnolia stamps, both full-size and mini stamps. If you don't see the particular one you are looking for in the store, ask Diana if she can bring it in for you.
And newly released from Magnolia and in store now is the Special Moments Collection 2013.  Check it out HERE.  The images are oh-so-adorable!

Template for Double Display Card

Hello.

I posted this Double Display Card a couple of days ago HERE and I've had several requests for the template.

I googled 'double display card' to see who originally created this card style.  The earliest posting I could find was HERE on Susan Bluerobot's blog, so I'm assuming she's the creator.  I've redrawn the template--below--and I've written the measurements in both inches and centimetres.

I thought the card needed something to keep it from unfolding all over the place when not on display, so I created a sleeve for it.

Here are the templates...

And for those of you who would like to have a hard copy:

Have fun with this.

Life is like a Butterfly...

Hello.  Happy Tuesday!

We're midway in our current challenge at the Magnolia-licious and Wee Stamps Challenge Blog.  It's all about BUTTERFLIES--your card/project needs to have butterflies (dragonflies qualify also).  You have one more week to join the challenge. This week is Magnolia-licious Team B's turn to show our inspirational cards/projects--last week was Team A's.

I was already working on a new card for this butterfly challenge when during a rare cleaning spree...LOL...I came upon this card.  It's a double display card that I made a while back--for a magazine submission, I think.  However, it never made it into publication...sigh.  I had put the card aside and simply forgot about it.  So I've decided to use this card now as it's never been posted...and woo-hoo...it fits the theme of the challenge!

This was also one of occasions when I play around with my coloured pencils.  My pencil collection is a mishmash of different brands--Faber-Castell Polychromos and Artgrips, Derwent Softcolours and Prismacolor Premiers.  And when I colour I mix and match whatever will give me the shades that I want.

The three Magnolia images here are all from the Butterfly Dreams Collection 2012--I luvvv that collection.

These two adorable images are Hello Little Butterfly and Tilda with Straw Hat

and this one is Edwin with Butterfly.

Check out Diana's on-line store, Magnolia-licious--an excellent source for your Magnolia stamps, both full-size and mini stamps. If you don't see the particular one you are looking for in the store, ask Diana if she can bring it in for you.
And newly released from Magnolia is the Special Moments Collection 2013.  Check it out HERE.  The images are oh-so-adorable!

The sentiments on the two panels read as follows...

They are from a Whimsy Stamps stamp set that I have, but the writings are way too small so I rewrote them on my computer.  You can also find this little poem on the internet--it says author unknown.

I made a point of not adding any embellishments that are 3-dimensional to the card, because I wanted to make a slip cover/sleeve for the card to keep it neatly folded for easier mailing...and storage.  Any 3-D embellishment would make it impossible for the card to slip through the sleeve opening.

Challenges I am entering with this card:
ABC Challenges for June - O is for Open (anything goes)
Marianne's Design Divas - Get Your Dies Out!
Addicted to Stamps and More Challenge #47 - Make Your Mark! (2nd entry, this time pencils)
Flutter By Wednesday #242 - recipe: flowers, at least 1 butterfly and diecut/punch
As You Like It Challenge #3 - Favorite Stamp (My favorite stamps are from Magnolia and as I love butterflies, their Butterfly Dreams Collection is a fave of mine, especially Tilda with Straw Hat.)
Allsorts Challenge Week 209 - Here come the girls
Card Makin' Mamas CMM70 - Rubber Stamps
Joanna Sheen Challenge - Spot and/or Stripes
Loves Rubberstamps Challenge #55 - Anything Goes

That's all for today.  I'll be back tomorrow as it's another Wee Wednesday at the Magnolia-licious and Wee Stamps Challenge Blog and I'll be participating in that one.

Thanks so much for dropping by.  Appreciate the visit.  Have a wonderful day!

Edited--I've drawn up the templates for the card and sleeve and you can find them HERE.
